Neuczki M.

"I feel that an all girls' school like Elmwood gives opportunities to flourish in an environment that supports us in the way we learn."

Honour Student, Inspirational Leader, Coach, and Friend

Neuczki M joined Elmwood in grade 9 as one of our prestigious Margaret White Scholars and since, her contribution to the school and to her peers has been felt in many ways.

At Elmwood, Neuczki participates in just about every event imaginable. Last year, she was Screen Team President and Yearbook Editor. This year, Neuczki participated in the Model United Nations Symposium, helped coach the Middle School swim team, is the organizer of Black History Month, and is a Yearbook Section Editor. She has been a Student Ambassador since grade 9.

"Elmwood’s vast opportunities and leadership development have enabled me to discover potential both as an individual and a leader. My experiences at the school have undoubtedly provided a solid base for all of my future endeavors," explains Neuczki. "I feel that an all girls’ school like Elmwood gives opportunities to flourish in an environment that supports us in the way we learn. Most importantly, it supports young women in their personal and social development to become confident, responsible and accomplished women."

One of her fondest memories while at Elmwood was participating in an international youth camp in Shanghai and Hangzhou, China. Neuczki was one of 2 candidates selected to participate in this opportunity to discover China. This, along with her studies in Mandarin at Elmwood demonstrated to the Canadian Museum of Civilization that she was qualified to be an interpreter at the "Treasures from China" exhibit running from May - October 2007.

Outside the walls of Elmwood, Neuczki has volunteered at the Canadian Museum of Civilization, created a promotional presentation for the Shepherds of Good Hope, helped to create a video on cultural diversity in Ottawa with the Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization, and currently volunteers with the Ottawa Boys and Girls Club.

Editor's Note: Neuczki now studies Engineering at the University of Calgary, after receiving the Seymour Schulich Community Service/Entrepreneurial High School Award from its Faculty of Engineering.
